Make a beautiful, feature-rich satchel and learn to work with zippers and hardware.

Level: Intermediate

What we’ll do:

  • Install hardware (D-rings, sliders, rivets, etc.)
  • Sew zipper pockets and a flap
  • Manage layers for neat, strong seams

Format: 4-week series - 2.5 hours per week

BYO sewing machine, or email katherine@tinycheerhandmade.com to rent one ($10/session).

INCLUDED in your class fee:

  • 2 yards (based on 20” wide) medium-weight fusible woven interfacing (SF101)
  • (3) 1" Swivel hooks
  • (3) 1" D-rings
  • (2) 1" Strap adjuster
  • Nylon zipper & pull (brass finish)
  • 2-5 double-cap rivets (optional)
  • 1" Non-adjustable leather strap

Option: BYO fabric & coordinating thread, or select the "fabric & thread included" option at checkout. If you are bringing your own fabric, you will need:

  • Exterior: 0.5 yards 13-13.5 oz waxed canvas (available from King Textiles or Emmaline Bags)
  • Accent Fabric: One fat quarter of cotton-linen blend or tweed (I like the canvas fabric from Rifle Paper Co!)
  • Lining: 0.75 yard of cotton-linen blend or quilting cotton (based on 44" wide fabric) (this is my favorite fabric to use for linings - no interfacing needed!)

Schedule:

  • Day: Saturdays
  • Time: 9:00 am–11:30 am
  • Dates: March 14, 21, 28, April 4
    • Make-up or extra time from 6:30-9 pm on Thursday, April 2
